In the late 20th century, leading companies realized the product development process was as important as the product itself. The process must involve strategic thinking, customer focus, technical discipline, advance knowledge, creativity, speed, and innovation to ensure a successful output for your customers. DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) is a process that integrates several best practices into a logical and practical structure. Systematic Innovation can be considered a subset of a DFSS discipline. This graphic begins to shows a flowchart we created in 1995 before DFSS was created and and has evolved into our 8 Step Systematic Innovation Process which has a much stronger emphasis on the front end of product development.
